Having started work as an EITB Engineering Apprentice at 15, Sims developed a practical understanding of manufacturing and production elements, which in the last 25 years has extended into the marine industry.
Work in SME companies has covered all aspects of business operations; from Strategy Planning, Finance, Customer Interface, Design, Manufacturing Process, Production Engineering, HR, Health and Safety, plus Sales and Marketing.
Having seen how events can benefit the profile of companies within the Supply Chain Sector Sims instigated and drove the Marine Manufacturing Showcase Concept which proved very successful at promoting companies and brands across the industry. MMS has helped over 55 companies so far.
Sims also combined his passion for motorcycles and healthcare, to lead the Marine Industry Leather and Lycra Charity nights which raised money for Riders for Heath (now Two Wheels for Life) charity, involving both Motorbikes and running alongside a networking evening as part of an after boat show event.
